Escondido Public Library
Creating Inspiring Spaces for Learning, Connection, and Discovery
G|M Business Interiors partnered with IDS Group Architectural Division to help transform the approximately 45,000-square-foot Escondido Public Library into a vibrant, welcoming destination for learning, creativity, and community engagement. The thoughtfully designed environment features 20 private offices, five staff workstations, two meeting spaces, a dedicated maker space, 30 reading spots, and a variety of open work areas, audiovisual spaces, and comfortable lounges.
A central focus of the project was creating engaging, age-appropriate environments for children and teenagers. Inspired by a colorful safari-themed mural in the children's area, G|M curated furniture and textiles featuring playful patterns reminiscent of jungle animals, establishing a cohesive connection between the artwork and surrounding furnishings. Flexible seating, inviting lounge areas, and appropriately scaled furniture encourage exploration, imagination, and discovery while accommodating visitors of all ages.
The furniture solution brings together a diverse selection of products from Herman Miller, Arcadia, Encore, Agati, HON, National, and SitOnIt. From kid-sized benching stations and cozy lounge seating to collaborative tables, modular furnishings, and functional workstations, each element was selected to balance comfort, durability, versatility, and design.
The result is a dynamic, multifunctional library that supports the evolving needs of its community, providing inspiring spaces to read, work, collaborate, and connect.
