El Centro Police Station

G|M partnered with Balfour Beatty and Barnhart Reese to deliver a comprehensive interior solution for a multi-building public safety workplace. Spanning Buildings A and B across both first and second floors, the project brought together thoughtful design, durable furnishings, and functional planning to support a wide range of work styles—from focused individual work to collaboration, training, and respite.

The scope included 21 private offices, conference rooms, meeting spaces, training areas, and informal collaboration zones. Each space was carefully furnished to balance performance, comfort, and longevity, essential for a high-demand public safety environment.

G|M specified a diverse mix of furniture solutions to support the programmatic needs of the facility. Private offices and shared work areas feature Herman Miller Canvas systems, Everywhere tables, Motia height-adjustable tables, and Meridian storage, paired with ergonomic seating from Herman Miller, SitOnIt, and Krug. Training and conference spaces were outfitted with SOI Cora chairs and the Krug Nuvo executive conference table, while lounge and respite areas incorporated OFS / Carolina seating, including Knack recliners, Basil seating, and Coact Lite booth seating to create moments of comfort within the workplace.

A defining element of the project was the client’s selection of a rust-toned accent palette, carried through carpet, paint, and architectural elements. G|M’s design approach embraced this warmth while preserving the strong, institutional identity traditionally associated with a Police Department. Deep and steel blues were layered throughout the space to balance the rust tones, resulting in a cohesive, contemporary environment that aligned with the building’s architectural language.
