1. Tell me a little bit about your experience with G|M.

I've been with G|M for just over 2 years, I started here in April 2018. I saw the job posted online and I remember how badly I wanted to work here. I thought the work was so cool and it just seemed like an amazing place to work. When they offered me the position as Scheduling Coordinator, I think I said yes before they actually finished making me the offer (laughing). Fast forward to two years later and today, I am the Scheduling Manager for San Diego.

2. What are some of your job responsibilities as Scheduling Manager?

I am a liaison between our customers and our warehouse team in San Diego. I work with customers to get their orders scheduled for delivery as well as with our warehouse crew to ensure we have the right teams for different jobs. I create routes for our trucks, put our installation crews together, and pull paperwork needed. There are always a lot of moving pieces! I also have to make sure that all of the guys on a project work well together, have the correct badging, are qualified to conduct the work, and understand the scope.

3. What does a typical day look like for you?

I usually get in at 7:00 a.m., turn on my computer, and look at all of the orders we received that day, which is input into a database by our warehouse team. Then, I immediately start reaching out to our customers to get their availability so I can schedule their products for delivery and installation as soon as possible. After that, I start working on the actual schedule itself, creating the routes and plugging in the trucks. I start on our large projects, MAC orders, and ensure that our warehouse has the right amount of installers and foreman. Every day is slightly different!

4. What do you enjoy most about your role?

I love putting the pieces together! It's sort of like a puzzle. It can be very challenging sometimes, it's not as easy as some people might think. But, I have to admit that a part of me really likes the chaos.

5. What did you do prior to working at G|M?

I mostly worked in retail and I also worked at a busy dutch bakery called Hans & Harry's Bakery for some time. I think that was my most relevant and helpful experience. I did customer service and processed orders, but it was hard work. It is an expensive bakery with great reviews so the standards there were very high. I was also going to school and got my Bachelor's Degree in Sociology.

6. You mentioned you worked at a bakery...do you know how to cook anything good?

Not really, but I ate a lot (laughing)! They are very well known for a long fruit strudel and it's so good.

7. What do you enjoy most about working for G|M?

I love seeing the before and after of what G|M can do. We turn basic spaces into really cool, functional, modern spaces. And with everything going on right now, I love that we support essential businesses. I think that what we do truly matters and makes a difference. I also love who I work with. We have such a great team! Whenever I get stressed or overwhelmed, they step up to help. We all have each other's backs, work hard, and respect one another.

8. Where do you hope your career takes you next?

I hope I can learn more about the actual furniture install. I'd love to go out on the field and see how the installation takes place and just have a deeper understanding of what our guys do. Maybe grow into a Project Manager role, but I'm not sure yet. I'm pretty happy with where I'm at at the moment.

9. Who or what has most shaped who you are?

My mom. She's so hard working. She gets up at 3 a.m. every day and never takes time off. She is the store manager for a department store and really instilled hard work in me.

10. Ok let's get into some fun questions...what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love watching true crime, food shows, and dog videos. I also enjoy going to casinos, eating, and hanging out with my boyfriend Kyle and my cute pug, Katsu.

11. You mentioned you enjoy eating...do you have a favorite food?

YES, seafood! Specifically, I love Dungeness Crab. It's a lot of work to eat it, but so worth it.

12. How would you describe yourself in one word?

Passionate. Let's go with that instead of obsessive (laughing). I want to do my best at everything I do.

13. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

The ability to eat anything and stay fit (laughing).

14. Do you have a favorite piece of Herman Miller furniture?

I really love the Eames Lounge and Ottoman. It's such a beautiful piece of furniture and I'd love to own one someday.

15. Ok last question...coffee or tea?

Coffee - strong with extra cream and sugar!
